An 18-year-old woman, Fatima Dalha, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband during a dispute over money, clothing and a mobile phone in Bauchi State.

The incident happened on Sunday, October 25, in Lirr Bajar community, Dass Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib said the disagreement began when Fatima demanded money, wrappers and a phone she claimed were in her 30-year-old husband’s possession.

According to the police, the argument escalated into a physical fight, during which she allegedly stabbed him with a knife. The couple had reportedly been married for only a few months.

Habib said officers from Dass Division intervened when an angry crowd gathered and threatened to attack the suspect.

The officers rescued her and took her injured husband to hospital, where he was receiving treatment.

Police said the suspect remained in custody and the knife had been recovered. The case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation.

Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed concern about domestic violence and urged couples to seek help through family members, trusted elders and lawful channels.

He also warned residents against mob violence, stressing that suspects must be allowed to face investigation and the legal process.
