A 19-year-old aspiring Nigerian artist, known simply as Destiny, has been reportedly beaten to death in Ghana’s Volta Region.

The incident occurred on May 28 and involved a fellow Nigerian living in Ghana, who allegedly accused Destiny of withholding funds from a business venture he was introduced to. This individual, said to have helped facilitate Destiny’s relocation to Ghana, confronted him at his residence alongside two others.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Destiny — originally from Edo State — died from the injuries he sustained during the violent assault.

“Destiny had gone to Ghana to pursue his education. The person he referred to as his ‘street brother’ assisted him in making the move and even helped secure his accommodation,” the source explained. “They reportedly brought him into a business arrangement but later accused him of mismanaging funds. They went to his apartment and severely beat him. He became weak and eventually died from the beating.”

After realizing Destiny was no longer responsive, the suspects reportedly left his body in the room.

Another individual close to the situation revealed that the police discovered Destiny’s remains several days later after being notified.

“Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene, where they found his body. So far, no arrests have been made. We are hopeful that the Ghanaian authorities will bring those responsible to justice,” the source added.

In a video clip that surfaced online, Destiny spoke briefly about himself and his ambitions.

He said, “I am Destiny, and I’m a streamer from Nigeria. I want to apply to Streamers University. It would be a great joy for me, my mother, and everyone. I’m also an artiste and a gamer — I do all sorts of things.”

This tragedy comes shortly after a similar case in April, where a 77-year-old Nigerian Uber driver, Olatunji Bolaji, was fatally shot outside a hookah lounge in Philadelphia, United States.

Bolaji, who lived in Norristown, Pennsylvania, had picked up a 22-year-old passenger around 2 a.m. near the Byblos Hookah Bar in Center City. Shortly afterward, another vehicle pulled up, and two men emerged and opened fire, striking both Bolaji and his passenger.
