2026 WORLD CUP: GROUP STAGE DRAW SET FOR DECEMBER 5 IN LAS VEGAS
FIFA Confirms December 5 for 2026 World Cup Group Stage Draw in Las Vegas
The much-anticipated draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage will take place on December 5 in Las Vegas, United States, according to ESPN.
FIFA settled on Las Vegas after considering and ruling out other potential venues in Canada and Mexico, the two co-host nations alongside the U.S. The 2026 tournament marks the first time the World Cup will be hosted across three countries, and it will also see a record-breaking 48 teams compete—up from the usual 32.
Pedro Cedillo, an executive from Mexican club Pachuca, shared the confirmation:
“December 5, if I’m not mistaken, is precisely the day the draw takes place… I understand it will be in Las Vegas.”
The city of Las Vegas, known for its vibrant entertainment scene, also hosted World Cup-related events back in 1994, the last time the U.S. was a solo host of the tournament. This time, the draw will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, a venue well-equipped for the global spotlight.
As the countdown to the tournament continues, teams, fans, and cities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are gearing up for what promises to be the biggest World Cup yet. The group stage draw will officially determine who plays who — setting the stage for new rivalries, thrilling matches, and unforgettable football moments in 2026.
