2027: ATIKU–PETER OBI DIVIDE MAY HAND TINUBU ADVANTAGE – DELE MOMODU
Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has warned that a split between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi could give President Bola Tinubu a significant advantage in the 2027 presidential election.
Recalling the 2023 presidential election, Momodu noted that Atiku and Obi finished second and third, respectively, and cautioned against repeating such fragmentation.
In a post on X, Momodu emphasized Atiku’s long-standing pursuit of the presidency, highlighting his resilience over the years. He stated that unity among opposition forces could be decisive, while disunity could again reshape the electoral outcome.
Momodu said: “Buhari lost multiple times and even stepped aside at a point. But Atiku has always stayed close to the destination and never given up—that’s admirable.
“He and Obi finished second and third in 2023, and dividing them again would instantly give Tinubu an edge. Look at the energy Obi has generated from his base to the ADC. Atiku will also re-energize his own base and bring the formidable structures he has been building meticulously and intentionally since 1993, when he stepped down for Chief Moshood Abiola at the SDP presidential primary in Jos.”
