2027: EX-SOKOTO DEP GOV URGES NORTH TO BACK TINUBU
Former Sokoto State Deputy Governor Mukhtar Shagari has called on northerners to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, pointing to infrastructure projects and ongoing reforms.
Shagari made the appeal in a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Musa Ubandawaki, following the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna on Saturday.
The former Minister of Water Resources described the gathering as evidence of the party’s unity and ability to mobilise supporters. He said the participation of northern governors, party leaders and grassroots supporters highlighted the region’s political importance.
He urged the APC to sustain cooperation within its ranks and communicate more effectively with citizens ahead of the election.
While expressing confidence in Tinubu’s prospects in the North, Shagari also called on the Federal Government to ensure its policies deliver noticeable improvements in people’s lives.
He congratulated the president on the commissioning of the Kaduna–Abuja dual carriageway, describing it as an important investment in transportation and commerce.
According to him, better roads can ease travel difficulties, support the movement of goods and services, and reduce obstacles facing businesses.
Shagari added that continued investment in public infrastructure could help stimulate economic activity, create jobs and improve the business environment.
