The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged its members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and remain united to secure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The call was made by the Imo APC Chairman, Austin Onyedebelu, during a stakeholders' meeting between the State Working Committee and party officials from the nine local government areas and 105 wards in Owerri Zone.

The meeting was attended by LGA and ward executives, elected council chairmen, councillors and other party officials.

Addressing the gathering, Onyedebelu described unity as the party's greatest strength, stressing that members must work together to ensure electoral success across the state.

He warned party officials that they would be held accountable for the APC's performance in their respective areas, urging them to identify and report any challenges or individuals capable of undermining the party's chances before the elections.

"There is no other way to win elections than through genuine votes," he said, urging members to focus on grassroots mobilisation rather than seeking shortcuts.

The state chairman also cautioned against anti-party activities, warning that members who worked against the APC would not benefit from any victory secured by opposition parties.

Onyedebelu further described the 2027 elections as crucial for Owerri Zone's aspiration to produce the next governor of Imo State.

Earlier, the party's State Secretary, Onyekachi Ibezim, said the meeting was convened to strengthen engagement between the State Working Committee and party executives at the ward and local government levels ahead of the 2027 polls.

He noted that the grassroots officials remained the engine room of the party and would play a decisive role in determining its electoral fortunes.

Speaking on behalf of party leaders in Owerri Zone, the APC Vice Chairman for the zone, Justus Ogu, assured the state leadership that the zone would deliver victory for the party in the presidential, governorship and legislative elections.
