Three political appointees of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, have resigned their appointments, adding to the growing list of officials leaving the state administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The officials are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke; and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.

Their resignations were communicated on Monday, November 2, 2026, and took immediate effect.

Ojo, in his resignation letter addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve but did not disclose the reason for his departure.

Similarly, Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, thanked Makinde for appointing him to the state electoral commission but offered no explanation for his decision to step down.

Oyeleke, however, cited an unconducive working environment, explaining that the circumstances had made it difficult for him to effectively pursue and fulfil the aspirations of his people while serving in the administration.

The former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former local government chairman also appreciated the governor for his leadership and the opportunity to contribute to the state's development.

The latest departures come amid a series of resignations involving prominent officials in Makinde's administration. Among those who have previously left their positions are former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, and former Director-General of the state's Due Process Office, Tara Adefope.

Other departures have also been recorded among political appointees and advisers in recent months.

The developments are attracting attention as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections. Makinde is also emerging as a key opposition figure following his political alignment with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Although the three officials have not all publicly stated their reasons for leaving, their resignations add another dimension to the changing political atmosphere in Oyo State.
