2027: OBI NOT A THREAT IN LAGOS; WE’VE CORRECTED 2023 MISTAKES — APC
APC leaders in Lagos say they have addressed the factors behind the party’s loss to Peter Obi in the state during the 2023 presidential election and are confident of a stronger performance in 2027.
They spoke on Thursday in Abuja at the launch of the Iyaloja General Movement, established by President Bola Tinubu’s daughter, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, to support his re-election.
The movement’s Lagos Director-General, Adejumbo Omofumilewa, dismissed suggestions that Obi or other opposition candidates posed a serious challenge to the APC in the state.
“Obi is not a threat, neither is any party a threat in Lagos State. We are in charge,” he said.
Omofumilewa maintained that the party had corrected its earlier mistakes, although he did not explain the specific changes made.
Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi described the 2023 result as a wake-up call and said the party would not take voters’ support for granted.
He said members were engaging communities, explaining the administration’s achievements and strengthening mobilisation across local government areas.
Meanwhile, the movement’s national Director-General, Dr Nasiru Ladan, said more than 2,500 support groups had joined its structure.
He outlined plans to build a nationwide supporter database and organise mobilisation down to ward and polling-unit levels.
Ladan said the movement was targeting 10 million votes for Tinubu. However, the report did not provide a detailed basis for that projection or explain how the target would be verified.
The statements reflect the party leaders’ campaign assessments rather than an established indication of how Lagos residents will vote.
