An aide to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has disputed the court ruling recognising Rochas Okorocha as the APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District, claiming the former governor did not participate in the primary.

Chief Enyinna Onuegbu, the governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, made the allegations during a television interview on Friday.

He said Okorocha did not attend consultations, address delegates or take part in activities leading to the primary.

His comments followed a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja declaring Okorocha the winner and directing INEC to recognise him as the party’s candidate.

Onuegbu challenged the documents relied upon by Okorocha, claiming that INEC and the APC committee responsible for conducting the primary had disputed their authenticity.

Those allegations remain contested; the supplied report did not establish that the documents were forged.

Onuegbu argued that the conflicting evidence should have been examined through witness testimony and cross-examination before judgment was delivered.

He also questioned the timing of Okorocha’s lawsuit and alleged that the former governor had not exhausted the party’s internal complaint procedures.

According to Onuegbu, Uzodimma’s camp would challenge the decision through the appeal process.

“The court has spoken and we are contesting what the court said,” he stated.

The report did not include a response from Okorocha to the latest allegations or indicate that a stay of execution had been granted.
