2027: PDP WARNS INEC — NO GLITCHES, NO EXCUSES

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that there must be no technical glitches or excuses when it comes to electronic transmission of results.

At a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, expressed concern over what he described as “institutional manipulation” of past elections. He stressed that Nigerians would not tolerate any failure in the use of technology during the upcoming polls.

“There must be no glitches in 2027. If POS machines work seamlessly across the remotest parts of this country, then INEC cannot claim that its BVAS machines suddenly fail on election day. That would be deliberate, institutional manipulation, and Nigerians will not accept it,” Ologunagba declared.

The PDP called for strict enforcement of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandates the direct electronic transmission of results from polling units using devices approved by INEC.

Ologunagba emphasized that this is not just a political demand but a matter of safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy.

“This is no longer about politics; it is about the survival of our democracy. INEC must guarantee a process where every vote counts — and every vote is seen to count,” he said.

He added that the technology and infrastructure already exist to make seamless result transmission possible and accused INEC of failing to fully deploy them in previous elections.

With this stance, the PDP has made it clear: 2027 elections must reflect the genuine will of Nigerians, without excuses or technical failures.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
