2027: RHODES-VIVOUR SAYS PETER OBI APPROVED HIS MOVE TO ADC
Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), has revealed that he got the approval of Peter Obi before officially joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Rhodes-Vivour made this known on Sunday during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme.
According to him, Obi — the former Labour Party presidential candidate — was fully carried along before he made the switch.
“Yes, certainly. A representative of his was at the declaration on Saturday. Peter Obi and I are communicating; we are aligned. There is no step I am taking that he is not aware of,” GRV said.
He further explained that both he and Obi believe in building a coalition of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We have all agreed that the only way for the opposition to have a successful election is through a coalition. Regardless of where anybody may be at this time, we are working towards that aim,” he added.
Rhodes-Vivour’s defection to ADC has stirred conversations within Nigeria’s political space, with many observers seeing it as part of a broader realignment ahead of 2027.
