2027: SOWORE SLAMS NDC, ACCUSES OBI OF RENTING PARTY EVERY ELECTION
African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, questioning their commitment to challenging Nigeria’s political establishment ahead of the 2027 election.
In a statement on X, Sowore accused Obi of moving between political platforms during election seasons rather than building a movement capable of delivering meaningful change.
He alleged that the NDC collected ₦9 billion from nomination forms while operating without adequate party structures. The account provided did not include evidence supporting that figure.
Sowore argued that Obi’s political approach served to channel public dissatisfaction without confronting the system responsible for Nigerians’ difficulties.
“Their politics is about managing opposition, not confronting the system,” he said.
He also accused some supporters of Obi and other political leaders of targeting critics and diverting attention from the country’s deeper social and political problems.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Abia State Governor Alex Otti were among those he named in his criticism.
Sowore further alleged that Obi and his allies were not mounting a sufficiently strong challenge to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The comments reflect Sowore’s assessment of rival opposition figures as preparations for the 2027 election gather momentum.
No response from Obi, the NDC or the other politicians mentioned was included in the report.
