Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s comments on hunger, saying the administration should accept responsibility for Nigerians’ economic difficulties.

Speaking on ARISE News on Sunday, Shaibu accused the President of being disconnected from the daily struggles of households.

His remarks followed Tinubu’s claim at Saturday’s Kaduna campaign rally that political opponents who previously held power were responsible for inherited hunger and poverty.

Shaibu rejected that explanation and urged Nigerians to compare living costs when Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, with current prices.

He argued that the removal of petrol subsidy contributed to sharp increases in transport costs and the prices of goods and services, leaving many families struggling to afford meals.

The ADC campaign official also alleged that rising university fees had pushed some students out of school despite the introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

He further questioned the President’s criticism of the opposition, pointing out that the APC governed Nigeria for eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari before Tinubu took office.

Shaibu maintained that the government should focus on practical relief rather than shifting responsibility.

His comments were political criticism of the administration’s performance. Claims about Tinubu’s awareness or state of mind were not supported by a medical assessment.
