No fewer than 28 vessels laden with petroleum products, containerised cargo and other commodities are expected to berth at Lagos ports between February 19 and 28, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has disclosed.

This was contained in the Authority’s latest Shipping Position report released on Thursday in Lagos.

According to the NPA, 20 of the incoming vessels are container ships transporting assorted goods, while the remaining eight are carrying crude oil, diesel, blended petroleum stock, aviation fuel and other general cargo.

The Authority further revealed that 12 vessels, including tankers, have already arrived at the Apapa Port, Tin Can Island Port and Lekki Deep Sea Port and are currently awaiting berthing.

These ships are laden with bulk urea, aviation fuel, bulk wheat, general cargo, containers and petrol.

The NPA added that 18 vessels are presently discharging cargo across the ports, including general goods, bulk pallets, urea, gypsum, diesel, crude oil, wheat and trucks.

It noted that the steady inflow of vessels underscores sustained port operations and consistent cargo throughput across Lagos’ major seaports.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
