305 KADUNA AIR FORCE INSTITUTE GRADUATES BAG FIRST-CLASS
The Commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), A.K. Ademuwagun, has revealed that 305 students graduated with first-class honours as part of over 3,000 students completing their studies during the institution’s combined convocation ceremonies in Kaduna.
Speaking ahead of the event at the Air Force Base, Ademuwagun said the convocation, scheduled from March 26 to 28, reflects AFIT’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence in technological education and innovation.
He disclosed that 513 graduates came from Aerospace Engineering and Aircraft Engineering Technology programmes, describing them as vital to the Nigerian Air Force and the country’s aviation sector. He added that AFIT remains Nigeria’s only tripartite institution combining military, polytechnic, and university education.
According to him, 2,112 graduates were trained under programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission, 729 under the National Board for Technical Education, while 159 were from postgraduate studies. In addition to the 305 first-class graduates, 146 students recorded distinctions in NBTE programmes, and 51 postgraduate students also graduated with distinctions.
Ademuwagun highlighted outstanding students, including Oluwole Winner Oluwatimilehin (Aerospace Engineering), Ahmed Amrah Abdulkadir (Cyber Security), and Babalola-Jacobs David Oluwasegun (Physics), all of whom achieved near-perfect CGPAs of 4.99.
He also announced plans to expand AFIT’s postgraduate programmes, increasing master’s degrees from two to 12 and postgraduate diplomas from four to 12 in the next academic session.
In a move to improve efficiency, the commandant stated that all graduating students would receive their original certificates immediately after the ceremony. He reaffirmed AFIT’s commitment to producing highly skilled manpower for both military and civilian sectors through innovation, research, and human capital development.
