A 60-year-old woman, Osagbemi Oluwafemi, along with two young men, Taiwo David (22) and Ayenuyo Ibrahim (25), has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Okitipupa, Ondo State, over the alleged murder of a security guard, Taiwo Williams.

The trio was brought before the court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder. According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, the incident occurred on July 2, 2025, at New Custom Junction in Idepe. It was gathered that Williams died a few days after being brutally beaten with planks and wood by the defendants.

The prosecutor told the court that the offences violated Sections 324 and 319 of the Ondo State Criminal Laws, which deal with conspiracy and unlawful killing.

The formal charge read partly:

“That you, Ayenuyo Ibrahim ‘m’, Osagbemi Oluwafemi ‘f’, and Taiwo David ‘m’, on the same date, time, and place… did unlawfully beat up one Williams Taiwo, which later resulted in his death, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code.”

During Monday’s proceedings, the pleas of the accused were not taken. The defence counsel, O. Adedire, requested an adjournment to enable her clients properly respond to the application from the prosecution.

Chief Magistrate Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi ordered that the defendants be remanded in police custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). The case was adjourned till July 31, 2025, for further hearing.

The tragic incident has left the Okitipupa community shaken, as residents call for justice for the late security guard.
