An aspirant for the Isuikwuato State Constituency seat in the Abia State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lilian Agbazue, has dismissed claims linking her to the Labour Party (LP) and the administration of Governor Alex Otti.

Agbazue described the allegations as false, misleading, and politically motivated, insisting that she has no political affiliation with the Labour Party.

She clarified a recorded message on Wednesday amid growing political tension over her alleged relationship with the Abia State government.

“I wish to issue a disclaimer and state unequivocally that I, Lilian Obenwa Agbazue, have no business being a Labour Party member and I am not working for Governor Alex Otti,” she said.

According to her, her interaction with the state government was strictly business-related and not political.

She explained that she only engaged with the administration in relation to rice supply contracts, noting that she is known across Abia State as a rice supplier who works with different stakeholders regardless of political affiliation.

“It will be extremely foolish of me to contest an election under APC and at the same time work for a governor elected under the Labour Party,” she added.

Agbazue also suggested that the controversy surrounding her was influenced by gender bias, though she did not provide further details on that claim.

The clarification comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the APC primaries in Isuikwuato Constituency.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
