ABIA APC GOV CANDIDATE SEEKS JUSTICE FOR SLAIN NURSING STUDENT
The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 Abia State election, Eric Opah, has expressed sadness over the killing of nursing student Wendy Achumba, who was allegedly murdered in Obowo, Imo State.
Opah described the incident as painful and unfortunate, stating that the death of the young student was a tragedy for her family, community, and society.
Achumba, a student of Our Lady of Mercy Nursing School, Obowo, was reportedly killed in her off-campus residence in Obowo.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Eric Ikwuagwu, Opah said he shared in the grief of the deceased’s family and prayed for strength and comfort for her parents during the difficult period.
He commended the Nigeria Police Force for arresting suspects linked to the incident and urged security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and the prosecution of all those involved.
The APC governorship candidate also called on students and residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
Opah prayed for the repose of Achumba’s soul and asked God to grant her eternal rest.
The Imo State Police Command had earlier confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Onyema Okonkwo and Emmanuel Onyekachi, over the alleged rape and murder of the 21-year-old student in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.
Meanwhile, the traditional ruler of Umuadara Umulogho, Patrick Uwalaka, and members of the host community condemned the killing and distanced the community from the crime.
