ABIA SECURES CONVICTION OF TWO CHILD SEXUAL OFFENDERS
The Abia State Government has secured the conviction of two individuals for child sexual offences, marking a significant step in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence in the state.
The convictions were achieved through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Justice, security agencies, and child protection organisations. The court handed down appropriate sentences after thorough trials, sending a strong message that such crimes will not be tolerated.
State officials welcomed the outcome, emphasising that protecting children remains a top priority. They urged residents to report suspected cases promptly and assured the public of the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims.
Child rights advocates described the convictions as a positive development that will help deter potential offenders and build public confidence in the justice system. They called for continued sensitisation programmes and stronger support systems for survivors.
The Abia State Government reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on all forms of child abuse and pledged to sustain efforts to safeguard vulnerable members of society through robust legal and social interventions.
