The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a pastor in Mpape, Abuja, for allegedly s3xually exploiting a 13-year-old girl under the guise of counseling.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on August 2, 2025, when the girl, who had been missing from home for four days, finally returned. Her mother, who resides at Dogo Block Off Mashafa Road, Mpape, attempted to discipline her.

At that point, their neighbor, identified as Pastor Joseph (surname withheld), intervened and offered to “counsel” the teenager at his house. It was later discovered that he had allegedly taken advantage of the girl during the supposed counseling session.

The suspect was immediately arrested following the family’s report. Both the victim and the pastor were taken to a hospital for medical tests and evaluations.

Police sources confirmed that the girl is now receiving medical care and psychological support in line with established protocols for child victims of abuse.

The case is being handled under Nigeria’s Child Rights Act and laws on sexual violence. If convicted, the pastor could face severe punishment, including imprisonment.

Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued, urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities that put children at risk.
