Command leadership cites severe operational staff deficits as affected personnel register frustration over delayed implementation of official transfer directives

An acute shortage of operational personnel within the Railway Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has stalled the redeployment of several officers whose transfers to the Ogun State Police Command had already received official administrative approval.

Affected police officers alleged that despite receiving valid transfer signals authorizing their relocation to various divisions under the Ogun State Command, command authorities have continually withheld their release documentation, leaving their postings in limbo for months.

Addressing the situation, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Railway Command explained that the delay stems strictly from critical manpower deficits across the national rail security apparatus, noting that releasing personnel without immediate replacements would severely compromise security along vital rail corridors and stations nationwide.

The command emphasized that the protection of critical rail transport infrastructure, passenger safety, and freight monitoring requires a continuous tactical presence, making it operational suicide to deplete existing divisions before new recruitments or substitute postings are deployed by force headquarters.

However, impacted officers expressed mounting frustration over the administrative deadlock, contending that prolonged delays disrupt family stability, career planning, and personal welfare, while calling on the Inspector-General of Police to intervene by expediting replacement deployments to enable their smooth transition to the Ogun State Command.
