The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, over the alleged killing of a five-year-old boy in Lamurde Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the boy, identified as Abba Bashiru, was reported missing on August 30, 2025, by his mother, Hadiza Bashiru, of Tingno community. She told police that her son was last seen with Hassan.

Following the report, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno launched a swift operation. Hassan was arrested and, during interrogation, confessed to conspiring with another suspect, still at large, to kill the child and bury him in a shallow grave.

The child’s body has since been exhumed and taken to the hospital for autopsy.

Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the second suspect.

The Command reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies in the fight against violent crimes across the state.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
