The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, for allegedly killing a 5-year-old boy in Lamurde Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday through the Command’s official Facebook page.

According to Nguroje, the victim, identified as Abba Bashiru, was reported missing on August 30, 2025, by his mother, Hadiza Bashiru, from the Tingno community. She told the police that her son was last seen in the company of Hassan.

“Based on the report, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Tingno swiftly launched an operation and apprehended Isiaka Hassan. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with another accomplice, who is still at large, to kill the boy and bury him in a shallow grave,” Nguroje stated.

The police later exhumed the child’s remains and transferred them to the hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and intensify efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect.

The Command assured the public of its resolve to ensure justice is served while urging residents to continue cooperating with security agencies in the fight against violent crimes across the state.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
