ADC ASKS INEC TO INVESTIGATE RIVAL FACTION OVER FORGERY CLAIMS
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate a rival faction within the party over allegations of document forgery.
In a petition to the electoral commission, the party urged INEC to examine the authenticity of documents allegedly submitted by the opposing group, insisting that any act of forgery should be thoroughly investigated.
ADC maintained that only legitimate party structures recognised by its constitution and leadership should be allowed to conduct official activities and communicate with the electoral body.
The party said the request was aimed at protecting the integrity of its internal processes and ensuring that political disputes are resolved in accordance with the law.
It also called on INEC to remain impartial and uphold due process while handling the matter, stressing the importance of transparency in the management of political party affairs.
The forgery allegations have added to the ongoing leadership dispute within the party, with both factions laying claim to legitimacy.
Political analysts noted that internal party conflicts often require legal and institutional resolution to prevent uncertainty ahead of electoral activities.
INEC has consistently maintained that it operates within the provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Act in dealing with disputes involving political parties.
Observers have urged all parties involved to pursue peaceful and lawful means of resolving their differences while respecting democratic principles.
The outcome of the petition is expected to shape the next steps in the leadership dispute as stakeholders await INEC’s response.
