The African Democratic Congress has dismissed reports claiming it is negotiating a merger or alliance with the Peoples Redemption Party ahead of a court ruling on its leadership dispute.

In a statement shared on Monday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullah said the reports were false and misleading.

He stated that the party is not currently holding talks with any political party, including the PRP.

“The coalition leadership is not having any such conversation with any political party at the moment,” the statement read.

The party added that it remains focused on resolving what it described as an “illegal action” against its leadership through the courts and electoral institutions.

However, it noted that it remains open to future collaboration with opposition groups as part of broader efforts to strengthen multiparty democracy.

The ADC also urged the public to disregard suggestions that it is planning to abandon its coalition structure, describing such claims as speculative.

The development comes amid ongoing leadership tensions within the party and broader political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
