ADC NEVER FELT OBI’S LOYALTY, SAYS BABACHIR
Fresh political tensions have emerged as former government official Babachir Lawal publicly criticised Peter Obi, describing him as “shifty” and questioning his commitment to the African Democratic Congress.
Speaking on the matter, Babachir suggested that members of the ADC never fully trusted Obi’s loyalty to the party, implying that there were lingering doubts about his political alignment even while he was associated with the opposition space.
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions around political realignments and coalition-building ahead of future elections. As different parties and key figures explore possible alliances, statements like this highlight underlying tensions and competing interests within the opposition.
Observers note that such criticisms are not uncommon in Nigerian politics, especially during periods of shifting alliances. Public comments often reflect deeper internal disagreements or strategic positioning as politicians navigate the evolving landscape.
Supporters of Obi, however, have pushed back against the claims, arguing that his political decisions have been guided by principles and the need to pursue platforms that align with his vision for governance.
The situation underscores the complexities of coalition politics, where trust, timing, and strategy play critical roles. Building a unified front often requires balancing individual ambitions with collective goals a challenge that has historically shaped Nigeria’s opposition movements.
As conversations continue, the focus will remain on whether these differences can be resolved or if they will further fragment efforts to form strong political alliances ahead of upcoming elections.
