ADELEKE CAMP THREATENS OSUN SENATOR WITH ₦10BN DEFAMATION SUIT

Campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has threatened to sue Senator Francis Fadahunsi for ₦10 billion over alleged defamatory statements.

Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, issued a letter dated August 12, 2026, demanding that the senator retract statements allegedly made about Olajengbesi during television interviews and issue a public apology within 24 hours.

The lawyer alleged that during an interview on Viable TV on July 2, Fadahunsi questioned Olajengbesi’s identity and accused him of using thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups in his political activities.

The lawyer further cited comments allegedly made by Fadahunsi during a Channels Television Politics Today programme on August 11, where the senator allegedly linked Olajengbesi to the late Ajayi Aderogba, popularly known as Rogba, and accused him of sponsoring Eiye members.

Olajengbesi denied the allegations, describing them as false, defamatory and damaging to his personal, professional and political reputation.

He also denied ever sponsoring, financing, supporting or providing resources to cult groups or their members for political or criminal activities.

According to his lawyer, the allegations were particularly serious because they allegedly portrayed Olajengbesi as someone involved in criminal activities despite his position as a legal practitioner, public figure and candidate for elective office.

Olajengbesi demanded that Fadahunsi withdraw the alleged statements through the same media platforms where they were made and publish an unequivocal and unreserved public apology.

The lawyer warned that if the senator failed to comply within 24 hours, Olajengbesi would commence legal proceedings seeking ₦10 billion in general and aggravated damages for alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.
