ADELEKE HINTS AT PDP EXIT, SAYS OSUN PARTY LEADERS READY TO FOLLOW HIM
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has confirmed growing speculations that he may soon dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying consultations are ongoing over his next political move.
Speaking through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor revealed that he met with top PDP stakeholders in Osun on Thursday, including his deputy, cabinet members, lawmakers, and other party leaders.
At the meeting, the PDP leadership caucus in Osun State passed a vote of confidence in the governor and vowed to support him no matter what party he decides to join.
“The PDP leaders praised Governor Adeleke’s performance in office and unanimously agreed to follow him wherever he goes,” Rasheed said in an official statement.
While the governor hasn’t disclosed which political party he’s considering next, all signs seem to point toward the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adding fuel to the rumour is a cryptic lyric from his nephew, music star Davido, in his latest song where he sings, “From umbrella to broom… New broom go sweep better…” — a clear reference to the PDP and APC symbols.
Adeleke, who has been praised for his energetic style of governance, told the party faithful that he is still consulting with stakeholders both within and outside the state before making a final decision.
The meeting, which brought together representatives of the National Assembly, State House of Assembly, party executives, elders' forum, and local government officials, ended with a communique confirming the party’s loyalty to Adeleke — regardless of the political party he chooses.
For now, Osun’s political landscape is on edge as residents, analysts, and politicians alike watch closely to see where Governor Adeleke — popularly known as the “Dancing Governor” — will pitch his tent next.
