The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Mauritania’s Dahane Beida as the centre referee for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group C match between Nigeria and Tanzania.
Beida is among Africa’s most experienced referees. He officiated as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during AFCON 2025’s opening game between hosts Morocco and Comoros on Sunday, a match the Atlas Lions won 2-0 with goals from Brahim Díaz and Ayoub El Kaabi.
The Super Eagles will face Tanzania in Group C’s opening fixture at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Tuesday. This will be only the second meeting between the two nations at the AFCON, with Nigeria having won the first encounter 3-1 during the 1980 AFCON finals.
