The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Egypt $5,000 after the team’s players and technical staff failed to honour post-match media duties following their AFCON 2025 clash with Zimbabwe.
Hossam Hassan’s side edged the thrilling encounter 2–1 but avoided the media mixed zone after the final whistle, declining to engage journalists as required.
CAF described the action as a clear breach of its media regulations and warned that more severe sanctions would be imposed if the offence is repeated during the tournament.
The seven-time African champions are scheduled to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in their second group match on Friday.
