AFCON 2025: OSIMHEN THREATENS TO QUIT SUPER EAGLES, RETURN TO GALATASARAY
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen reportedly threatened to leave the national team and return to Turkey following a heated incident on the pitch.
According to reports, Osimhen was angered after a clash with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
Despite scoring twice with assists from Lookman, the 27-year-old forward reacted angrily when he was not passed the ball in the 64th minute.
Osimhen then signaled to the bench to be substituted and was replaced by Moses Simon.
At full time, the striker reportedly stormed out of the stadium, leaving behind his accreditation card, and declared he was “done” with the national team, expressing a desire to fly back to Turkey.
He was later calmed down by senior officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
