AFCON: LOOKMAN REVEALS TEAM NIGERIA HOPES TO AVOID IN KNOCKOUT STAGE
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has made it clear that Nigeria has no preference when it comes to opponents in the knockout stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking to reporters after Nigeria’s 3–1 win over Uganda in their final group-stage match on Tuesday, the Atalanta star said the team is prepared to face any side in the competition.
Lookman stressed his respect for all teams at the tournament, noting that winning the AFCON title requires taking on the best opposition.
“There’s no team we want to avoid. I have respect for everybody,” he said during his post-match interview when asked if Eric Chelle’s side had a preferred opponent in the knockout phase.
“If you want to win a tournament, you have to play the best. Our focus is to keep winning our games and be ready to face anyone in this competition. We’re looking forward to whatever team comes next.”
Nigeria will take on Mozambique in the Round of 16 on Monday.
