AGREEMENT WITH IRAN HAS BEEN LARGELY NEGOTIATED – TRUMP

US President Donald Trump has said that a comprehensive agreement with Iran has been “largely negotiated” as efforts intensify to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Trump made the announcement during a press interaction at the White House on Friday. He expressed confidence that a final deal was close, describing the negotiations as very productive.

“We have largely negotiated an agreement with Iran,” Trump stated. “We’re working on the final touches, and I believe we will have something very good very soon.”

Although the president did not disclose full details, sources familiar with the talks indicate the proposed agreement includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping and restrictions on Iran’s nuclear programme. These are two major conditions the US has insisted upon since the conflict began.

The development comes as global oil prices remain high due to the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy route. A successful agreement would likely bring relief to energy markets and reduce economic pressure on many countries, including those in Africa that depend on imported petroleum products.

Iran is yet to issue an official comment on Trump’s latest statement. However, diplomatic sources suggest both sides have made significant progress in recent weeks.

The conflict between the United States and Iran has lasted over two months, causing major disruptions to global energy supply chains and pushing up fuel prices worldwide.

While President Trump sounded optimistic, analysts caution that several sensitive issues still need to be resolved before a final agreement can be signed. Further updates are expected in the coming days as negotiations approach a possible conclusion.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
