A’IBOM GOV MARKS 62ND BIRTHDAY, OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS, JOBS, HOUSING TO LESS PRIVILEGED
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, marked his 62nd birthday on Friday by extending scholarships, automatic employment, housing, and other support packages to children and residents of various orphanages and charity homes across the state.
The governor announced the gesture during a special birthday celebration held at Divine Children’s Home, Atan Offot, Uyo.
He said the decision was aimed at giving hope to the less privileged and reinforcing the belief that background should not determine a person’s future.
Eno explained that he has consistently dedicated his birthdays to acts of compassion since assuming office, focusing on vulnerable groups across the state.
He noted that the initiative aligns with his administration’s “Renewed Hope” message, encouraging beneficiaries to remain hopeful about their future.
The governor highlighted ongoing efforts by his administration, including the construction of over 400 homes for vulnerable persons and initiatives aimed at promoting peace and unity in the state.
He stressed that peace and social harmony remain his greatest achievements, alongside infrastructure development.

As part of the birthday interventions, Eno approved automatic employment for 22 caregivers working in orphanages and charity homes across the state.
He also directed that 15 individuals who completed vocational training be enrolled for further training at state skill acquisition centres, with starter packs and shops to be provided upon completion.
In addition, he ordered the provision of independent housing for beneficiaries to help them transition into self-reliant living.
The governor further approved an overseas postgraduate scholarship for one beneficiary and directed that two civil servants among the beneficiaries be allocated housing units.
He cautioned against the proliferation of unregulated orphanages in the state and urged compliance with proper standards.
Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the less privileged and promoting inclusive development across Akwa Ibom State.
