Air Peace, the largest airline in West and Central Africa, has responded to allegations from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) regarding “chronic delays and cancellations” in its domestic operations. The airline rejected the assertion that these disruptions are due to a shortage of aircraft, emphasizing that safety is the driving factor behind its operational decisions.

In a statement released on Friday, Air Peace acknowledged the NCAA’s crucial role in ensuring aviation safety but made it clear that the disruptions were not caused by fleet shortages. The airline clarified that it has more aircraft available than are currently in use for daily operations, directly countering the NCAA’s recommendation for the airline to scale down operations to match available aircraft.

Air Peace reiterated that safety remains its top priority, and any delays or cancellations are made with passengers’ safety in mind. "We fully empathize with passengers who experience discomfort due to delays or cancellations, but we will never regret making operational decisions that prioritize the protection of human lives," the airline said.

The airline further emphasized that it would never operate flights if conditions — whether related to weather, technical parameters, or other operational standards — fall short of safety requirements. The statement reflected the airline’s unwavering commitment to safety, stating that it would not compromise on this fundamental principle, even at the expense of operational disruptions.

The airline also pointed to a specific incident as an example of the challenges it faces. On Friday, one of Air Peace’s aircraft suffered engine damage due to a bird strike while landing in Enugu. Following safety protocols, the affected plane was immediately grounded, which led to delays and cancellations across several scheduled routes.

“This type of incident, which is completely beyond the control of any airline, reinforces our commitment to safety,” Air Peace explained. “Every decision, whether involving a delay, cancellation, or suspension, is made with the best interest of safety in mind.”

Air Peace further reassured the public that flight cancellations are never made for convenience or financial reasons. “We do not cancel flights for the fun of it. It is not our policy to delay or cancel flights without valid cause, and when we do, we often incur financial losses,” the airline stated. “We will never sacrifice safety for speed, convenience, comfort, or profit.”

Concluding its statement, Air Peace reaffirmed its dedication to offering passengers dignified service, professionalism, and an unwavering adherence to global safety standards.

Air Peace is West and Central Africa’s largest airline, known for its commitment to safety, excellent customer service, and operational integrity. The airline operates both domestic and international flights, striving to provide secure, efficient, and reliable services to its passengers.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
