Air Peace has announced a 12-hour suspension of all flight operations at its Lagos hub on Saturday, July 12, 2025, due to the scheduled local government elections in Lagos State.

The airline disclosed this in a public notice shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday. According to the announcement, both inbound and outbound flights in Lagos will be suspended from 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in compliance with movement restrictions imposed by the state government.

“We wish to inform our esteemed customers and the general public that there will be no scheduled flight operations into and out of Lagos on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,” the statement read.

The airline explained that the temporary halt is in line with the directive from the Lagos State Police Command, which announced movement restrictions on roads and waterways to ensure a smooth and secure election.

Air Peace further confirmed that regular flight services will resume by 4:00 p.m. the same day, once the restrictions are lifted.

The airline expressed regret over any inconvenience caused and reassured passengers of a swift return to normal operations.

Meanwhile, as part of security preparations for the polls, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the deployment of security personnel across the state to maintain order and ensure peaceful conduct during the elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
