AIR STRIKES KILL TWO SENIOR ISWAP COMMANDERS IN SAMBISA FOREST
Two more senior leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been killed in air strikes in the Sambisa area of Borno State.
Security sources confirmed that the operation targeted Yuwe, a location within the broader Sambisa Forest. They identified the deceased as Ali G3, described as ISWAP’s commander in Yuwe, and Abdullahi Muga, another senior figure in the group’s leadership.
Their deaths follow earlier reports of other key commanders, including Saddam, Saleh Garin Kago, Hussaini Ubaida, and Ba Alayi Benbem, being neutralized in the same operation.
The air mission was conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai at approximately 6:08 a.m. on Friday. The strikes came after intelligence teams monitored structures believed to serve as terrorist command centers and storage facilities in Yuwe.
“Upon confirmation of the targets, the aircraft engaged the selected objectives using precision-guided munitions,” a source said.
Post-strike assessments indicate that the targeted command centers and logistics sites were destroyed, significantly weakening the group’s operational capacity in the Sambisa corridor. Efforts are ongoing to verify the identities of other senior ISWAP leaders believed to have been killed in the operation.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling terrorist leadership networks and consolidating recent security gains in the North-East.
