Airtel Africa Plc has repurchased more than 7.7 million of its ordinary shares as part of an ongoing share buyback programme aimed at enhancing shareholder value.

The telecom giant acquired the shares between June 19 and 25, 2026, at an average price that reflects management’s confidence in the company’s long-term prospects despite market challenges. This latest tranche brings the total shares bought back under the programme to significant levels.

Airtel Africa, which operates in 14 countries, continues to invest in network expansion, data services, and mobile money solutions. The buyback signals strong belief in future cash flow generation and operational efficiency.

Market watchers see the move as positive for the stock, potentially supporting price stability and demonstrating prudent capital allocation.
