AIRTEL PROMOTES SUSTAINABILITY EDUCATION IN NIGERIAN SCHOOLS
Airtel Nigeria has launched a major initiative to promote sustainability education in primary and secondary schools across the country, aiming to raise awareness and inspire young Nigerians to adopt environmentally responsible habits.
The programme, tagged “Green Minds Initiative,” includes interactive workshops, educational materials, and practical projects on waste management, energy conservation, and climate action. Airtel’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Mrs. Ifeoma Okonkwo, highlighted the company’s commitment to building a sustainable future through education. “Empowering the next generation with knowledge on sustainability is key to long-term environmental stewardship,” she said.
The initiative has already reached several schools in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, with plans for nationwide expansion. Teachers and students have welcomed the programme, noting its practical approach and relevance to everyday life.
Airtel has partnered with education authorities and environmental NGOs to ensure the programme’s effectiveness and sustainability. The telco also pledged to plant trees and support recycling projects in participating schools.
The move aligns with Airtel’s broader corporate responsibility strategy focused on education, environment, and community development.
