Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has strongly denied rumors that she received a Toyota Venza from Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo and a prominent figure in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Labeling the allegations as baseless and defamatory, Lawal announced her intention to pursue legal redress against the individual who made the claims. “I’m going to court,” she declared.

Speaking on the Talk To B podcast, Lawal addressed the trending allegation that has sparked intense online debate, insisting she drives a Lexus GX 460 and has never been gifted a car by MC Oluomo or anyone else.

“A grown man, I don’t know if it was a setup or if he was under the influence, sat in front of a camera and claimed MC Oluomo gave me a blue Venza. I never received any car. Why should I suffer consequences for something I never did?” she questioned.

She said she only became aware of the video after hearing a disturbing prayer in which her name was mentioned. “I didn’t even watch the video until someone brought the prayer to my attention—where he said, ‘Aisha Lawal, I’m the owner of that blue Venza with you.’”

Refuting the claims with strong emotion, Lawal said, “I’ve worked hard to be where I am today. I deserve respect. I’ve never even driven a Venza. I drive a GX 460. My shop is the fourth or fifth property I’ve built.”

Reflecting on her journey, Lawal recounted the dedication and sacrifices she has made throughout her career. She emphasized that slanderous accusations diminish her years of honest effort.

“During the COVID period, I made ₦10 million in a week or two while pregnant. Maybe the same day someone was struggling with failed IVF, they saw me at a filling station and assumed I was proud because I didn’t smile,” she said. “People don’t know what I’m going through. Someone even accused me of choosing money over children.”

Sharing her past struggles, Lawal revealed, “My father acted like he wasn’t responsible for me. I started driving at 16. I could change tires and even drove my dad for a year. At Adeoyo roundabout, a trailer once hit me—I slammed the brakes.”

She described how she used to travel by night buses from Odogwu to Aba, covering her face with a mask and cap to avoid recognition. “I didn’t want to pay for hotels, so I took night buses. I even rode in poultry vans from Aba to Ibadan, sometimes to Ijebu Ode, before I began traveling to China,” she recounted.

Determined to defend her reputation, Lawal concluded, “I studied Law for seven years. I’m ready to go to court. He should hire a competent lawyer.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
