Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has congratulated Obafemi Hamzat on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election.

Ambode described Hamzat as a loyal party member whose consultations and long-standing commitment to the party earned him the endorsement.

He expressed confidence that Lagos State would benefit from Hamzat’s experience and governance skills if elected.

The former governor also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, linking Nigeria’s and Lagos’ prosperity to the continuity of his administration.

Ambode pledged to mobilise support for the APC at both state and national levels, setting a target of at least three million votes for Tinubu in Lagos.

He further called for the return of all APC-nominated lawmakers to the National Assembly, emphasising party unity and electoral strength.

Hamzat’s emergence follows a series of endorsements within the party, including backing from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Governance Advisory Council, which unanimously adopted him as its preferred candidate.

The deputy governor, who has served since 2019, said he remains confident despite the scale of the task ahead, citing his experience in governance.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
