The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully foiled an armed robbery incident in Abiakpo Ntak Inyang village, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, arresting one of the suspects involved.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, revealed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Uyo.

According to her, the operation followed a distress call from a resident who reported that two individuals were being attacked by armed men wielding a jackknife and a machete.

“A police patrol team was immediately deployed to the scene, where one suspect, identified as Ubong Victor Elijah from Ikwen village in Obot Akara LGA but residing in Ikot Obong Edong village, was apprehended,” she said.

The second suspect, identified only as Wisdom, managed to escape and is still on the run. Items recovered during the arrest included a black face mask and two jackknives.

DSP John confirmed that the victims, who sustained multiple stab wounds, were taken to the hospital for treatment. She added that investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to track down the fleeing suspect.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
