ALL EYES ON MUNICH: PSG VS INTER MILAN — WHO WILL WIN?
The curtain falls on the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season this Saturday as Paris Saint-Germain face Inter Milan in a highly anticipated final at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
This will be PSG’s second-ever Champions League final appearance, following their 2020 loss to Bayern Munich. Inter Milan are chasing their fourth title, having last lifted the trophy in 2010.
Path to the Final
Luis Enrique’s PSG booked their spot in the final by defeating Arsenal 2-1 in Paris, sealing a 3-1 aggregate victory in the semifinals.
Inter Milan edged past Barcelona in a dramatic two-legged tie, winning 7-6 on aggregate after extra time in the second leg. Their journey to the final has been marked by standout performances against elite opponents.
Domestic Form
PSG dominated Ligue 1 this season, clinching the French title with a commanding 19-point margin despite a winless streak in their last three league games. They rounded off their domestic campaign with a 3-0 victory over Reims in the French Cup final.
Inter Milan narrowly missed out on the Serie A title, finishing second behind Napoli. Although Inter won their final match against Como, Napoli’s win over Cagliari ensured they retained the championship.
Team News
PSG head into the final with a fully fit squad. Enrique has been able to manage his players’ workload carefully after securing the league title early.
Inter Milan face fitness concerns over Yann Bisseck (knee), Benjamin Pavard (ankle), and Piotr Zielinski (muscular), but manager Simone Inzaghi remains optimistic. “My wish is to have everyone available on Saturday evening. We’re going to approach the final in the best possible way,” he said.
Historic Clash
This will be the first competitive meeting between PSG and Inter Milan. Their last encounter was a pre-season friendly in August 2023 in Tokyo, where Inter won 2-1 thanks to a late goal by Stefano Sensi.
Stadium and Stakes
The final will be held at the 75,000-capacity Allianz Arena in Munich, home of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. This is the first Champions League final hosted in Germany since 2012.
The winners will pocket €20 million in prize money, while the runners-up will receive €15.5 million.
