Amaechi Alleges Peter Obi Won Rivers State in 2023 Presidential Election

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has stirred political debate with his claim that Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi actually won the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State.

Speaking during an X Space discussion on Saturday, Amaechi said:

“I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State. But I don’t know how the results were changed.”

His statement adds fresh controversy to the already disputed outcome of the February 2023 polls.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner in Rivers State with 231,591 votes, while Obi came second with 175,071 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) placed third with 88,468 votes.

Amaechi’s remarks have sparked renewed conversations on alleged election irregularities, especially in Rivers, where opposition parties and observers had raised concerns about the vote collation process.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
