AMERICAN WOMAN ACCUSES YOUNG NIGERIAN HUSBAND OF ROMANCE SCAM, SAYS SHE LOST $80,000
A 55-year-old American woman has taken to social media to share a painful story of how she was allegedly scammed by her much younger Nigerian husband and his family.
According to her, she met and legally married a 26-year-old Nigerian man, identified as Kindness, but later discovered that the marriage was built on lies. She claims that her husband and his siblings conspired to exploit her financially, taking at least $80,000 from her over three years.
The woman, who says she is a single mother battling a heart condition and diabetes, explained that she was lured into believing she had found love, only to be left heartbroken and drained financially. She showed pictures of her husband and his siblings — a sister named Godness and brothers Ifeanyi and Ebuka — whom she accused of living lavishly off her hard-earned money.
“They used my money to visit lounges, stay in hotels, and live a good life, while I was struggling with my health,” she said.
She also expressed her disappointment in the family’s religious background, pointing out that their father is a church deacon. “How do you go to church, pray to God, and still scam me? He married me under false pretences just to take my money,” she lamented.
The woman said she has cursed the family and vowed to continue speaking out so that others don’t fall victim to similar scams. “Till my last breath, I’m going to make sure they pay for what they did to me. People need to be careful — he is looking for the next victim.”
Her story serves as a strong reminder for people, especially those seeking love online or across borders, to stay vigilant and protect themselves from romance scams.
