Human rights organisation Amnesty International has called on Nigerian authorities to urgently secure the release of residents abducted in parts of Kwara.

The organisation expressed concern over the increasing incidents of abductions in the state and other parts of the country, urging security agencies to intensify rescue operations and protect affected communities.

According to Amnesty International, the safety of abducted individuals must be treated as a priority, while efforts to combat insecurity should be strengthened to prevent further incidents.

The group also called for improved intelligence gathering, faster response mechanisms, and greater accountability in addressing recurring security challenges.

The appeal comes amid ongoing reports of kidnappings and violent attacks in several Nigerian communities, raising renewed concerns over public safety.

Amnesty International urged authorities to ensure that victims are rescued unharmed and that measures are put in place to prevent future occurrences.

Security agencies are yet to issue a detailed update on the latest abduction cases, while investigations and rescue efforts are believed to be ongoing.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
