AMORIM EXPLAINS WHY MAN UNITED COULDN’T BEAT WEST HAM IN THEIR 1–1 EPL DRAW

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed frustration after his side failed to secure all three points in their 1–1 draw against West Ham on Thursday night.

The result was a missed opportunity for the Red Devils, who could have moved up to fifth place and drawn level with fourth-placed Chelsea.

United took the lead through Diogo Dalot in the second half, but a late strike from Soungoutou Magassa ensured West Ham walked away with a point.

Speaking after the match, Amorim explained that his team lost control at a critical moment instead of killing off the game.

“We had good moments and we lost a little bit of control after the goal,” he said.

The manager stressed that United should have put the match to bed once they scored their opener.

“We should have closed the game when we scored the first one. The game was in control, we knew it. Any set pieces can be a problem.”

Amorim highlighted poor ball retention as one of the main reasons they couldn’t hold onto their lead.

“We couldn’t maintain the ball after the goal. Losing second balls, running with the ball — they were winning the first ball.”

He added that the team needs to show more composure during high-pressure moments.

“We can control that kind of game. We should be better with the ball after the first goal.”

The draw leaves Manchester United still chasing a move up the Premier League table, while Amorim continues his push to bring greater consistency to the squad.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
