The Osun State chapter of the Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps, has arrested three young men over a series of burglary incidents at the popular Atakumosa Market in Osogbo.

In a statement issued by the corps’ Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yusuf Abass, the suspects — aged between 18 and 22 — were caught in the act after a tip-off. Operatives tracked them down during the crime and later followed them to their hideout, where several stolen items were recovered.

Among the recovered goods were electronics, household utensils, building materials, provisions, and beverages, all allegedly stolen from shops at the market.

Abass assured residents that Amotekun remains fully committed to protecting lives and property in Osun State. He also called on the public to play an active role in community safety by reporting suspicious activities promptly.

“Our operatives are dedicated to securing the state, but security is a collective effort. We urge residents to stay alert and always share useful information with Amotekun or other security agencies,” he said.

The arrest has been welcomed by market traders and residents, many of whom have recently raised concerns about rising cases of burglary in the area.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
