The Osun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested three individuals over the alleged theft of 97 goats in Ila-Orangun, Osun State.

The suspects have been identified as 34-year-old Ajayi Tope, a native of Ila-Orangun, alongside 46-year-olds Babalola Afeez and Tajudeen Isiaka, both from Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State.

According to a statement released by Amotekun spokesperson Yusuf Idowu Abass on Friday, the trio was apprehended around midnight on December 31, 2025, by operatives attached to the Ila-Orangun Command.

The arrests followed complaints from residents about the repeated disappearance of goats in the community.

The Corps explained that operatives placed the suspects under surveillance to monitor their movements. “The suspects were eventually apprehended when they allegedly returned to the town late at night to steal more goats,” the statement added.

Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the suspects confessed to the crimes, admitting that they had previously been involved in multiple livestock thefts in the area. They disclosed that similar thefts had occurred on eight different occasions prior to their arrest.

The suspects also claimed that all stolen goats were sold to an alleged leader, Ibrahim Akona, based in Ado-Ekiti, at a price of ₦20,000 per goat.

The statement commended the Ila-Orangun operatives for their prompt and professional response to the community’s complaints.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the alleged kingpin, Ibrahim Akona, who remains at large.
