ANAMBRA ELECTRICITY COMMISSION PROMISES IMPROVED POWER SUPPLY
The Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission has assured residents of Anambra State of improved electricity service delivery, urging stronger collaboration between power distributors and consumers.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Nnewi, the Managing Director of the commission, Frank Okafor, said ongoing efforts to develop the state’s electricity market would soon lead to a more stable power supply.
The forum, themed “Public Consultation on Draft Regulations,” focused on addressing key challenges such as energy theft, vandalism, and estimated billing, which have long affected electricity reliability.
Okafor explained that ASERC, established under the Anambra State Electricity Law 2025, is responsible for regulating electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply within the state, while also protecting consumer rights.
He noted that continuous engagement with communities and stakeholders would help improve service quality and encourage investment in critical infrastructure.
The commission also expressed support for renewable and clean energy solutions as part of efforts to expand electricity access across both urban and rural areas.
Residents were urged to remain patient amid current power challenges, with assurances that ongoing reforms and collaboration with distribution companies would lead to better service delivery in the near future.
